Mr. Nirinder Singh Johl

Nirinder Singh Johl, is a professional electrical engineer, who has served Malaysia’s national utility company, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) in multitude portfolios with distinction and charm for more than 36 years since 1986.

Upon graduation from University Technology Malaysia (UTM), he embarked on a pathbreaking career as an Electrical Distribution Engineer covering the frontline for 15 years in Peninsular Malaysia before migrating to TNB’s Distribution Headquarters to be in charge of its Customer Service Division for a decade, constantly engaging and listening to over 9 million customers before accelerating up the corporate ladder as TNB’s General Manager Customer Service in 2010.

Nirinder , also holds a Master’s in Business Management (MBA) degree from the University of Bath , that allowed him to fast-track and strategically master indepth expertise in other equally significant areas of the utility business , namely in Transmission, Generation , Strategic Corporate Communications, International Business during the subsequent years. Nirinder served as the Managing Director of TNBX Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of TNB formed in 2019 to venture into the non- regulated business aka beyond the meter business over the last 3 years and just retired in early June 2022.

Under Nirinder’s leadership, TNBX has pioneered a platitude of innovative breakthroughs including solar energy contracting with utility billing (SARE) , I-REC branded Renewable Energy Certificates for Malaysia (mREC) , both in bundled and unbundled RECs and on many more energy efficiency projects. The highly successful track record of TNBX speaks volume of the leadership qualities of Nirinder.

Although Nirinder retired from TNBX this June, 2022, he would still be actively involved in the utility business with his new found passion in Renewable Energy and will continue exploring and developing exciting new frontiers in the ASEAN market.

Nirinder is presently the CEO of AsiaCarbonXChange Plt , an organization involved in the consultancy and management of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).

Mr. Narcis Vidal

“Narcis Vidal is Vice President of Business Development and Sales for Africa, Asia Pacific and Middle East at Gridspertise, helping utilities solve their complex challenges on smart metering, smart grid, and digitalization.
During his 20 years of experience in the energy sector he worked for Endesa, Enel and EnelX as: eMobility & Innovation Project Manager, eMobility Technical Manager, Head of e-Mobility Innovation and Head of e-Mobility Global Technical Sales. Focusing on business development, sales, strategy, innovation, and technology he was involved in large international strategic projects related mainly with grid edge, electric vehicles, and smart cities.
He is a telecommunications engineer with an Executive MBA at ESADE in Barcelona.”

mr. Michael Joseph

Michael has over 25 years of career involvement in the power industry in combined cycle plant operations in Malaysia, and since then has progressed through engineering, sales, and management positions in Malaysia and in Europe, most recently in Business Development and Sales for Long Term Service Agreements including O&M Contracts in Kuala Lumpur. Prior to that he also worked in power plant performance monitoring, developing improvements in diagnostics followed by Integrated Power Plant Lifecycle Management to give Owners a greater insight of their assets. He is also an active Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and held various leadership positions.

dr. Matthew Rowe

Dr. Matthew Rowe is a global leading expert in Power Systems and Energy Storage, a Principal Consultant, and currently the Director of the DNV Asia Pacific Power Grids business. Prior to his current role Matthew was the Head of Department for Energy Storage across Europe, the Middle East and Africa at DNV. Matthew is a Chartered Engineer and has a PhD in Power Systems and Energy Storage, he has published in internationally recognised energy journals, and often presents at academic and industrial conferences around the world. Matthew has lead and worked on over 150 power systems projects globally with key industry stakeholders such as System Operators, Regulators, Governments, Utilities, Investors, Developers and Network Operators.

mr. Masato Tamura

“Dr. Masato Tamura is the Managing Director of IHI Power System Malaysia, a Malaysian subsidiary of IHI Corporation.

He and his employees carry out maintenance of boilers for power generation to ensure a stable supply of electricity in Malaysia and other South East Asian countries.

Since three years ago, in addition to conventional maintenance, he has been working vigorously to deploy ammonia and biomass combustion technologies with the aim of decarbonising and solving global warming issues.

On his days off, he worries about reducing CO2 emissions from his motorbike.”

mr. Marcus Andre Ong

Marcus is Head of Business Development for Mainstream Renewable Power where he leads the company’s efforts on wind and solar development in the Philippines. He has led new market entry initiatives for Mainstream in APAC prior to refocusing efforts in the Philippines.

Prior to joining Mainstream in December 2018, he has worked in development functions for multinational renewable energy companies seeking to establish its operations in the market. He has over a decade of development experience in the energy sector and an equal amount of experience in real estate development.

Mr. Joseph Buckler

“Joe Buckler is Senior Vice President, Global Sales, and Business Development, for Babcock & Wilcox (B&W), a leader in energy and environmental products and services for power and industrial markets worldwide.

Buckler leads the company’s global sales, marketing and business development teams. He is responsible for growing and maintaining strong business relationships with B&W’s customers and for developing and implementing successful strategies to accelerate growth and achieve revenue goals across the company’s three business segments – B&W Renewable, B&W Environmental and B&W Thermal. He assumed these responsibilities in January 2019 and was named Senior Vice President in January 2022.

From July 2018 to January 2019, Buckler was Vice President, Service Projects, responsible for all technical and commercial aspects of the company’s service business. He joined B&W in 2002 in the Engineering group and subsequently served as Project Manager, Regional Project Manager, and Project Developer. Later, he was named Director of Sales for the Eastern Region.

Buckler earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Paper Science and Engineering from Miami University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Kent State University.”

“John currently serves as the Vice President of Marketing at G&W Electric. He has over 20 years of experience in the electrical equipment industry in a variety of sales and marketing roles such as proposal engineering, order management, project management, product management, and sales. Most of his career has focused on distribution technology.

John earned his BSME from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.”

Mr. Jimmy Khoo

“Jimmy Khoo is the Chief Executive Officer of SP PowerGrid Limited (SPPG), which operates and maintains the electricity and gas transmission and distribution networks in Singapore. It is a member of the Singapore Power Group (SP Group), a leading energy utilities company in Asia Pacific. Prior to the current appointment, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Singapore District Cooling (SDC), a key subsidiary of the SP Group. SDC provides centralised production of chilled water in the premium district of Marina Bay and is the largest fully underground network in the world.

He previously headed SP Group’s Business Ventures responsible for commercial and technology initiatives and various operational roles such as the grid planning division and Singapore’s Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal project. He has also been involved in overseas projects, being the Managing Director (Australia Investments) based in Melbourne.

He was previously a Brigadier General holding senior appointments in the Ministry of Defence and the Singapore Armed Forces. He led the Joint Staff and the Future Systems Directorate responsible for disruptive technologies and led the initiative to transform the Singapore Armed Forces in the early 2000s.”

Mr. Jerin Raj

Jerin is responsible for the P&L covering Thailand, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia. He is responsible for business strategy, business development, sales, and project delivery within the subregion. He leads the client engagement effort and in structuring solutions for clients across the BV portfolio of power, gas, fuels, chemicals, connectivity, and environmental solutions. Jerin has an MSc in major programme management from Oxford University, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management at Kozhikode, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. Jerin has 18 years’ experience in the power transmission, petrochemicals, and critical infrastructure space.

Mr. Richard Schomberg

“Richard Schomberg is IEC Special Envoy for Smart Electrification (www.IEC.ch). Recipient of the IEC 2011 Lord Kelvin award, chairs the IEC Systems Committee on Smart Energy.

He owns a consulting practice (Industrial Strategy, Complex Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, Standardization). Board member of the G3-PLC Alliance, he was EDF VP Corporate Standardization, and appointed EDF Group Corporate Fellow. He had the responsibility of EDF R&D activities in North America.

Emeritus member of the US DoE Gridwise Architecture Council, he was System Engineering Professor at Supelec (Paris), Chair of Intelligrid Strategy Committee (Electric Power Research Institute – Chauncey Starr Award 2005).”

Mr. Jean-Louis Neves Mandelli

Jean-Louis Neves Mandelli is the Singapore managing partner and a partner in the Project Development & Finance practice. His practice covers all aspects of international project development and financing across the energy and infrastructure sectors, acting for both sponsors and lenders (including leading multilaterals, DFIs and ECAs). He has particular experience on energy transition, having advised on a large number of renewable projects across hydro, solar and wind, as well as floating solar and hybrid solar-battery projects. He is very involved in the firm’s market leading work in the hydrogen space as well as being advising on ESG-linked financings.

Ms. Dora Adamo

“Dora Adamo is Clean Industrial Power Solutions Growth Leader at Baker Hughes and in her role she is committed to develop the building blocks for a cleaner, efficient, reliable and sustainable power sector. Dora contribution and expertise were key to develop some of the most advanced solutions portfolio mostly for decentralized and industrial users, helping to position the company in the Industrial power generation and cogeneration sectors.

Dora is active in several associations in the energy sector, and more recently she has been appointed in the Board of Director of Cogen Europe and Cogen World Coalition. Trained as Management Engineer, Dora has more than 15 years of international experience and has covered several strategy, product management and marketing roles, developing deep domain expertise on energy market dynamics and turbomachinery solutions.”

Mr. Declan Byrne

Declan is a highly experienced sales leader with more than 25 years’ sales management experience. Prior to joining Driivz, Declan spent 15 years in the Utility Industry running successful sales teams in both Europe and Asia for leading companies such as Landis+Gyr, Trilliant Inc. and Bidgely. Declan has also spent almost ten years in the electronic and networked security industry, working closely with companies like TFL, BT and BNFL. Declan holds a Degree in Engineering from University College Galway.

Mr. Daniel Tampubolon

Daniel Tampubolon was born in Pematang Siantar Indonesia in 1984. He graduated from the Institute Technology of Bandung, Indonesia in 2006 and served as an electrical engineer in PLN since 2007.

After completing his Master of Engineering Management from Curtin University – Australia in 2012, he has been actively involved in distribution network planning, asset management, smart grid development and deeply involved in renewable energy development for eastern part of Indonesia. Since 2013, he has joined HAPUA (Heads of ASEAN Power Utilities) organization, specifically in Working Group 3 – Distribution. He was the Deputy Manager of Distribution Planning in PLN Banten Region.

In the period of 2018-2021, he has been assigned as the branch manager of Merauke Area located in the most eastern part of Indonesia under Papua and Papua Barat region and Serpong Area under Banten Region. Since 2021, he has been assigned as the Senior Manager of Planning for PLN UIW Nusa Tenggara Timur focusing on developing a sound infrastructure of distribution network up to generation sector and leveraging the utilization of renewable energy in rural electrification program.

Mr. Dan Lambert

Dan Lambert is Trilliant’s Chief Solutions Officer, responsible for Innovation, Portfolio and Product Management, Engineering, and Data Services & Analytics. Dedicated to operational excellence by delivering business solutions and information services in demanding environments, Dan brings more than twenty-five years of hands-on experience in the Military & Defense, Telecom, Utilities, and B2B2C industries. Prior to joining Trilliant, Dan worked in executive leadership positions at ACN Europe B.V. and British Telecom, most recently serving as COO for Smart DCC in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Antoine Gaudin

Dr. Allen Wang is the research leader of Asia Pacific Regional Integrated service. He is a highly experienced energy market expert with 15 years of experience in power and renewable markets in various countries. He is also responsible for providing consulting advisory to commercial clients in energy market planning, regulation, operation, and policies. Dr. Wang is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Energy. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, and a Ph.D. from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia.

Mr. Allard M. Nooy

“Allard Nooy joined Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) as President South-East Asia in June 2022 and has overall accountability for the company’s developments and investments in South-East Asia and India.

Allard has been based in Asia for over 25 years and has strategic executive leadership experience in the infrastructure sector in emerging and frontier markets. He has successfully led and acquired infrastructure, energy and environmental companies and his key focus has been on the development and implementation of growth strategies.

He has been accountable for the financing and creation of new assets and the implementation of energy and infrastructure projects. The format of these projects varied widely and included private public partnerships and build own operate transfer structures in the infrastructure and renewable energy sectors.

Allard’s previous roles include CEO InfraCo Asia, a commercially managed infrastructure development and investment company headquartered in Singapore active in 12 South and Southeast Asian countries, CEO of Jindal Aquasource and Jindal Ecopolis in New Delhi, India; President Asia Pacific at Covanta Energy Corporation (the world’s largest energy from waste company) based in Shanghai, China; Regional Director Infrastructure Development and Country Director China, for the Leighton Group in Asia; Regional Director, Greater China at Thames Water International in Hong Kong SAR; and Country Manager of Vermeer–Ballast Nedam, while based in Vietnam.

In addition to his full-time role, Allard lectures at the Singapore Management University (SMU) a Public Private Partnership Program. Previously he lectured at the National University of Singapore (NUS) a Project Finance Academy Program.

He holds a BSc (Eng) in engineering management and an MBA in international business.”

Ms. Alifia Bintang Nugroho

“Alifia Bintang Nugroho is Investment Advisor at Energy Investment Management and is also the manager of Indonesian Energy Innovation Challenge.

Mainly focusing on energy innovations, Alifia continues to support ideas and creations in the energy sector to further up-skill the impact towards Indonesia. The Indonesian Energy Innovation Challenge is a solution to create more disruptive innovations to expand the transitions.

Also following to that, Alifia connects Indonesian networks to the energy markets available. Talking about developing countries, there is always room to discover especially in new technology and remarkable business models. Alifia will keep giving encouragement and active involvement in the energy sector.”

Mr. Adrian Wong

Adrian is a seasoned energy and infrastructure lawyer.

A Director at Prolegis LLC and Head of Projects for the Herbert Smith Freehills Prolegis Formal Law Alliance, Adrian is qualified in both English and Singapore law.

He has provided comprehensive and integrated advice on all aspects of energy and infrastructure project development as well as advice in relation to acquisitions and disposals. In addition to his in-depth experience in the conventional energy space, Adrian has a very strong reputation in the market as a sought after advisor (particularly in relation to his experience on cutting edge and “first of its kind” transactions) in the renewables industry. He is known for his experience and focus on “new power” (including storage, hydrogen, energy management and smart grid applications and instruments) in addition to the “conventional” renewables projects such as hydro, wind (onshore and offshore) and solar.

Adrian has had practical experience across Asia, having worked for clients on projects in Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Mongolia.

Paul Sly is Chevron Lubricant’s Global Industrial OEM Specialist with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and CLS and OMA-1 certifications in the lubricants field. His career includes 13 years at Caterpillar Engine Division and 20 years at Chevron including managing the Isoclean contamination control program for the last decade and as Chevron’s top field specialist in the power generation industry.
